Panda, Orkla Confectionary & Snacks Finland Ab
Panda, the sweets manufacturer located in Vaajakoski, went through massive changes, when its production facilities were expanded and the manufacturing was transferred to the same location as the rest of the production. Concurrently, the company realized that maintenance should also be included with its core activities and so Panda brought its previously outsourced maintenance back to the organization. The information and experience maintenance personnel have, was seen useful when developing the production.
Panda has utilized ARROW software over a decade. Maintenance has been monitored and managed with ARROW Maint and machine availability has been developed with Machine Track. When maintenance was outsourced, the maintenance company was using ARROW Maint too, so when the time came, the entire data was effortlessly transferred to Panda’s server. Now both ARROW Engineering programs carry out their tasks simultaneously.
Additionally, the intention was to manage maintenance based on real-time running hours. This function is called Rel-time Maintenance, RTM. Maint-system will now make maintenance requests when the pre-set running time is finished. Running time data is transferred directly from Machine Track to Maint.
”The fine tuning of Machine Track at Panda is nearly complete. We are currently adding finishing touches to the use of Maint and connecting the two programs. Both programs are excellent tools for monitoring repairs, the utilization rate of machines, the need for maintenance, and capacity and production problems. The two programs allow us to make reliable profitability calculations for investments and to manage the development of production and maintenance,” explains electrical and automation expert Arto Liimatainen.
