MSK Plast is a contract manufacturer of plastic located in Ylihärmä, Finland. The company manufactures visual and high-quality plastic components for demanding conditions. The components are usually large and impressive.
To improve the company’s production efficiency, MSK Plast acquired Machine Track. The system is used to collect data for OEE measurements, label and product specific monitoring, controlling quality information, and monitoring production status via the factory layout view. In addition, Machine Track communicates with the company’s ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics AX, and data transfer works both ways between the systems.
The project was first piloted on two machines. Now the system is used on 45 different machines and more will follow. MSK Plast acquired Machine Track with the objective of finding out the overall equipment efficiency, OEE, for different production labels and load points. Furthermore, the company wanted to determine the actual cycle and change times for products and the unproductive operation time of the machinery. Data transfer between Machine Track and MS Dynamics AX adds its own special feature to the use of the system. AX provides job queues for specific load points, which are transferred to Machine Track. Machine Track makes detailed cell-specific production plans for the job queue, which are shown in the operators’ own views. Once a job is finished, Machine Track enters the total production amounts into the AX system.
From the very beginning, the company management was very committed to the project and its implementation. Technically speaking the installation of the data collection system was easy. Several new machines have been connected to the system during the past year. To ensure that the desired data is transferred as the customer has requested, ARROW has implemented a specially customised AX connection. As the latest addition, ARROW has provided the customer with a factory layout view, from which the they can now see the status of each machine and, for example, quality problems that have been acknowledged.
